Bonjour!
From the President...

Bonjour!
2010 promises to be a banner year for Fredericksburg Sister City Association.  It is our 30th anniversary of being a Sister City to Fréjus, France, and the friendships and exchanges between Fredericksburg and Fréjus have not only lasted but grown stronger every year!  From the student, cultural, and adult exchanges, to the local events and activities, the people of Fredericksburg and surrounding counties have grown in their global aspirations and awareness. We thank you for your donations, hosting, and generous contributions in the past and look forward to your continued involvement in the future.

Membership Month:
January is the time to renew your Sister City membership!  Please consider filling out the form for renewal when you receive it either electronically or in the mail. You can also download the form on our web site. And you might consider sharing our membership information with someone else who might enjoy the excitement of our French-themed programs, fun activities, and exchange visits with the Fréjus groups.

Email Newsletter:
In response to members' suggestions, FSCA will begin electronic distribution of newsletter with January 2010.  The cost of copying and mailing paper is high, and we hope we are doing a small share in saving money and trees!  Please note on your membership form that we will be sending all information to your enclosed email address.   In case of glitches, we ask your patience for the first few electronic mailings.

Fredericksburg in July 2010:
Beginning as early as Spring 2009, the FSCA Board and Directors began discussing and finalizing the logistics of the 30th Anniversary Celebration which we will host.  It is also the student exchange year when the French students come to Fredericksburg.  In addition there will be dignitaries, Giant Omelet Chevaliers and some 30 adults who will attend as well.  If you are interested in helping with the events planned or hosting either students for the exchange or adults attending the festivities, please contact the following people:  Patsy Prud'homme for student housing, and Sara Fartro or Tami DeMarchis for adult housing,  Steve Beauch for the Giant Omelet, Mandy Carr for the American Music Festival, and Cathy Herndon other events. See our web site for contact information.

Attention French Teachers:
Patsy Prud'homme, FSCA's Programs director and First Vice-President, has been meeting with area French Teachers for inclusion in their students going to Frejus next summer 2011.  If you are a French Teacher and have not received information please contact Patsy.

A bientôt...
Cathy Herndon, President

Cathy is the newly elected FSCA President for 2010-2011.

News from Fréjus
Maryse Rigoulot, President of the Fréjus Jumelage (Sister City Association) is meeting with and organizing the adults and students who will be coming to Fredericksburg this summer.
As an added event, Maryse and her husband Philippe, will bring guest musicians who will perform a "le P'tit Bal du 14 Juillet", a traditional music, singing, and dancing, festivity for everyone to experience.  If you have ever attended a local village's celebration of their Bastille Day, 14th of July, you will know how much fun that can be.

We also thank the Jumelage for their recent donation to the Alex Vitarius Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of Harry Porter, a long time member who passed away last year.
