| Upcoming Events | Art/French Film: Tuesday, February 22, 6-8:30pm
6-7pm: Wine & Cheese Reception 7-8:30: Film, "The Mystery of Picasso"
Headquarters Library Theater, 1201 Caroline Street, Fredericksburg
 | | The Mystery of Picasso | Mark
your calendars for Tuesday, February 22. We will have a wine and cheese
reception in the theater of the Central Rappahannock Library
Headquarters in downtown Fredericksburg from 6-7pm.
Following will be the film "The Mystery of Picasso:"
An
exploration of the mind and motivations of Picasso, as he creates works
live, in this exposé of a master at work. DVD. One of the greatest art
documentaries ever made captures the exhilarating moment and mystery of
creativity of the 20th century's greatest artist Pablo Picasso. French
film director Georges Clouzot (Diabolique, Wages of Fear) persuaded his
friend Picasso to perform his drawing and painting on glass while filmed
from other side. The master creates 20 mesmerizing works. Casual
comments between the two prove fascinating. In French with easy-to-read
English subtitles."
Bring your friends and enjoy learning more from Picasso himself!
In
conjunction with this, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond is
having the only East Coast exhibit of masterworks by Picasso borrowed
from the Musee Picasso in Paris, France. This show opens in late
February and I would like to organize a bus trip to see the exhibit.
Watch your emails for details later.

was a wonderful evening. Check out the photos.

her BARN Book!

| News from Fréjus | Thanksgiving in Frejus
Frejus just celebrated their 15th Thanksgiving
dinner at the Villa Aurelienne. Maryse Rigoulot sent word
it was a sell-out! They had 72 people enjoy a traditional Turkey
dinner with wine and dessert. Cathy Herndon sent decorations and a
message to be read to the Jumelage. Leigh Dowd was able to connect with
Maryse at the dinner on SKYPE!
Here are some comments about the day: "The
Thanksgiving party went very well. The crab dip, the cocktail (bourbon,
apple brandy and cranberry juice) and the desserts (cheesecake,
chocolate tart and pumpkin pie) were homemade and very good, so were the
peanut soup and crab salad made by the caterer ... we had fun with the
game and everybody liked the decorations. I read your message and
Philippe (Rigoulot) managed to make a skype connection with Leigh and we
could talk and see her family. She could see the whole group at the
Villa Aurélienne ... We had two American young ladies, both teachers,
one at Odile's school and the other in Nice - but she lives near Fréjus.
I send a photo but you will find many on our blog: http://fredericksburgfrejus.unblog.fr/2010/11/26/soiree-thanksgiving-2010/"
Sounds like they had a great time!
Christmas Exhibit in Frejus
Maryse also wrote to say that Fredericksburg was represented in a holiday folk exhibit in town. That is on the blog as well: http://fredericksburgfrejus.unblog.fr/2010/12/05/exposition-lou-cepoun-frejuren/.
Maryse writes, "Hi Cathy, Please
visit my blog: you will see photos of the exhibition that the folk
group "Lou Cepoun Frejuren" is having at the Centre Culturel place Paul
Vernet. Our Sister Cities' Christmas traditions are represented and of
course Fredericksburg is there, right at the entrance!"
