The raffle for Nice
Lori Kissinger and her husband Roy are running our raffle for a trip for two to Nice, France in the fall. The trip is valued at $3300 (destination and date of travel are flexible, to be worked out with travel agent). This is very flexible and the trip could be to anywhere if you do not prefer Nice. It is valued at $3300.
Raffle tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100. The membership was mailed a packet a couple of months
ago and you should have by now either purchased, sold, or passed on
your tickets to whoever would enjoy this valuable opportunity. The drawing for the winning ticket will be at our Bastille Day Picnic, July 14, at Old Mill Park. If you need more tickets, please contact Lori at loriandroykissinger@msn.com or 540-972-4406.
The summer student trip to Fréjus

This summer, 20 local students and 5 adults will be traveling to Fréjus.
The selected students, two of whom have received scholarships from
FSCA, are from Colonial Beach, Spotsylvania, Stafford and Fredericksburg
City. Organized by Patsy Prud'homme and led by chaperones
Abigail Haymes, an elementary French teacher at Fredricksburg Academy,
Brian Ours, a French and Spanish teacher at Stafford High, and Patsy
Prud'homme, our students will arrive in Fréjus on July 11th and return Monday July 25th.
With a multitude of activities and trips arranged by Maryse Rigoulot, Fréjus /Fredericksburg sister city President, and Mr. Andre Olivier, President of the five sister cities of Fréjus, the students will be hosted by families with students of their own age. Many of these families had students who came to Fredericksburg last summer for our 30th anniversary and were hosted by anAmerican student family. After 10 days in Fréjus,
students will travel to Paris for a three-day exploration of the City
of Light! The student exchange is our most important endeavor as a
Sister City because it truly allows the total immersion into the
country's language and culture, our main mission! For more information about this program contact Patsy at 540-903-1444 or patsy@jaysix.net.
We thank student George
Knight, a scholarship recipient, for his volunteer work on our
membership and the Constant Contact Newsletter listings!
Megan Barron is our American Intern in Fréjus this summer. Megan will travel to Fréjus May 31, and work for 3 weeks in various arranged work places. She will work at the new Books on the Beach project of the Fréjus Library, as well as other service jobs. We know she will be having fun as well.
French classes
Judy Hansen and Lori
Kissinger are teaching French classes to 13 adults. Severalof these
adults will be traveling to France in the future and many are using this
opportunity as a refresher course in the language. We thank both of these wonderful retired French teachers for their expertise and volunteer service for the organization. These classes add greatly to our fund-raising efforts for scholarship students to go to Fréjus.
