Dear FSCA members,
 
I would like to take this opportunity to say I hope everyone has recovered from the BIG Snow and that January 2010 is a welcomed new beginning for all.  I am gradually assuming the duties of president of the Fredericksburg Sister City Association and with past president Judy Hansen and Phyllis Whitley’s guidance, I welcome the expertise and enthusiasm of the Board of Directors to help us all celebrate this banner year for our organization!
 
Not only is it a new decade, but this is also our 30th Anniversary of the joining of two wonderful cities: Fredericksburg and Fréjus, France.  Together we are planning many exciting events.  The Giant Omelet is returning under the leadership of our fantastic treasurer, Steve Beauch! And there is something wonderful and new, an American Music Festival under the direction of Mandy Carr, a long-time member and renowned local music teacher.
 
Our 2010 Sister City Board includes new faces as well as many long-time members.  In addition to myself, the officers and directors include Craig Vasey, Lori Anne Kissinger, Wilbur Brown, Steve Beauch, Mandy Carr, Patsy Prud’homme, Bill Beck, Phyllis Whitley, Sara Fartro, and Bob Antozzi.  Samantha Thomason has agreed to continue publishing our newsletter and the web site.  This outstanding group of volunteers is already working diligently on scheduling the upcoming year’s events, celebrations, and activities for our 50- plus visiting “sisters, brothers and children” from Fréjus.

I would like to remind you of our "April in Paris" fund-raising raffle.  You were recently mailed tickets for this exciting 5 night stay in Paris, France airfare included!  Please send in those tickets you have purchased as soon as possible. Remember, this a non-profit organization and the tickets are tax deductible.  The drawing for the raffle will be at our Mardi Gras Party on February 16th.  All of our events and fund raising efforts will help with this summer's anniversary festivities and our guests from Frejus.  I would also like to say "Thank you!" to our members who have already supported this event.
