Summer student exchanges are one of our most important activities. Hosting alternates every year between American and French families. Alex Vitarius Memorial Scholarship The Alex Vitarius Memorial Scholarship is given every two years. The scholarship was established in memory of this Spotsylvania High School student after his premature death. Alec personified what we felt was a perfect ambassador for our organization and our community. Our scholarships are given to exceptional French language students in this area in order to travel to France to improve their language skills, interact with the people and expand their knowledge of the country. The winner will travel to France with a group of other students. They will spend 10 days in Fréjus and then go to Paris for a few days to explore that magnificent city. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need. Since 1981 we have given more than $12,000.00 in scholarships to local students. Funding for this program comes from our generous members, local businesses and through fund raising projects. If you have questions about the scholarship program or wish to apply for a scholarship contact Mrs. Patsy Prud’homme, Director – Student Exchanges, patsy@jaysix.net. |
